Your new function will be very reassuring
WhatsApp is adding a new feature called “Media Visibility”, which will allow users to hide all the images received in that messaging application, so they do not appear in the cell phone gallery.
This new feature has appeared in the beta version v2.18.195 of the application. According to its website, it allows users to hide images, videos and even audio files received in WhatsApp, so that they are not displayed in the device’s default gallery, according to the BGR portal.
While the option to hide such WhatsApp files was already included, the new feature allows the user to do it for individual and group chats.
One can access this function by entering a contact’s information page and then clicking on the “Media visibility” option. Here you can choose between “No”, “Yes” and “Default”, to show the multimedia files of the chat in your gallery. The same can be done for group chats.
While it is not a great feature, it will help reduce clutter caused by the large amount of unwanted images and videos shared in a WhatsApp group or by an individual friend.
It should be noted that the feature will only work for the multimedia files you receive after updating the version of WhatsApp. The images received before the update will continue to appear in the gallery. In addition, it is available only for Android beta users running version 2.18.194 of the application. However, very probably the function will be available soon for all.
