History of Intercorp
On July 20, 1994, the Peruvian investor Carlos Rodríguez-Pastor Mendoza, in partnership with some North American minority partners, made the purchase of the International Bank of Peru (then InterBanc) to the Peruvian State. This started the growth of the company as a financial entity. 91% of the shares were acquired and transferred to IFH (International Finantial Honlding), while the rest were sold to some workers of the company.
In 1998, Interbank launched Interseguro, which is one of the leading insurers in Peru. In turn, this company owns the chain of shopping centers Real Plaza.
Also in 1998, Interbank created Urbi Propiedades, which is the real estate arm of Interbank.
In the year 2000, Interbank acquires Cineplex S.A. After the acquisition, the name of the cinemas changes to Cineplanet, while the company name continues to be Cineplex S.A. Today Cineplanet has more than 70 cinema screens throughout Peru. As of 2005, it operates cinemas in Chile also under the name of Cineplanet, previously operating under the name of Movieland. In February 2003, Casa Andina began operations with a property in the district of Miraflores (Lima), and since then the company has grown, building 17 hotels in 8 cities in Peru.
At the end of 2003, Interbank purchased the Santa Isabel S.A Supermarkets from the Dutch company Royal Ahold. As of March 15, 2004, the company begins operations under the name of Peruvian Supermarkets. The Vivanda and Plaza Vea brands operate

Interbank launched a department store. which has the name of Tiendas Peruanas S.A and the brand launched was Oechsle.
In August 2008, the Interbank Group formally launched the first corporate university in Peru, “UCIC”. In order to train the employees of all their companies.
At the beginning of 2011, the group acquired the largest fast food chain in Peru, known as Bembos.
In July 2012
the Interbank Bank acquired the chain of Chinese food restaurants China Wok, and also 50% of the shares of ExpressNet at a cost of US $ 940,000 US Dollars; thus completing 100% of the shares of this company. ExpressNet is the local acquirer of transactions with American Express credit cards.
